I’ve been friends with Buzz for years, he’s a great guy and we have bonded over tees. I used to have a female fashion tee line Pecan Pie Couture, and Buzz has a very successful lifestyle brand YEAHBUZZY. Buzz has collaborated with artists in the past and I asked if I could throw my hat in the ring. I was inspired to make a version of his classic bear tee taking reference from my recent textile artwork ‘sea change’.
Usually YEAHBUZZY has tees professionally printed from graphics Buzz designs. For this limited run, I design the graphic in collaboration with Buzz and then I made the screen, handscreened the shirts in a color mix single screen. Each shirt has a unique but similar color pattern. I then foiled portions of the print using a second step heat press method. Foils wear off after 15-20 washes, but the shine and original ink color remain underneath.
