In 2009 I attended my first International Symposium on Wearable Computers.  It was held during the Ars Electronica Festival which had the city of Linz dancing in electronic art.  I was there to help present my first academic publication:  Is It Gropable? – Assessing the Impact of Mobility on Textile Interfaces  Nicholas Komor (first author) and I traveled with my friend Claire Porter who modeled an example of a gropable interface we designed and made into a dress.  We called the dress the ‘pleat dress’  and claire posed for some pictures next to the Ars Electronica Center.

Nicholas Komor has gone on to become a pretty successful designer in his own right.  Claire Porter has started her on holistic health service Bilancia Health.

ISWC has been such a great conference over the years.  The call for papers 2014 is currently out, and ISWC will be held in Seattle this year.  Look at how much fun we had when we were in Linz!
